Given the amount of initial planning that museum leaders obviously put into the interpretation and creation of the exhibit, it was surprising how intense the public outcry was over the exhibit. Considering both the planning stages of the Enola Gay exhibit and this week’s articles and book on interpretive planning, it seems that the Smithsonian’s Air and Space museum suffered less from a detailed plan, but from not involving their primary stakeholders in the planning and decision making stages.
